Welcome to The Fearless Birth MB Blog: Evidence-Based Childbirth Education Without Fear
Some of you may be wondering who I am—or, if you already know me, how I ended up here.
My name is Stephanie. I’m a farm wife, a mom of two toddlers, and a self-proclaimed birth nerd. Before kids, I was a certified accountant. I spent my days working with payables and receivables, financial statements, year-end reports, and data analysis. Birth wasn’t on my radar at all.
That changed when I got pregnant with my first baby.
My initial reaction was pure excitement—followed quickly by a wave of fear. I remember thinking, “Oh my gosh… I’m going to have to push this baby out.” That fear surprised me. Birth is a normal, physiological process… so why did it feel so terrifying?
That question stuck with me.
As my pregnancy went on, I found myself spending nearly all of my free time learning about birth. I read studies, listened to experts, took courses, and followed real birth stories. And one pattern became impossible to ignore: the more birth was rushed, controlled, or treated like a problem to manage, the more complicated it seemed to become.
As someone trained to analyze systems and outcomes, that mattered to me.
I started to see that fear, routine interventions, and a lack of true education often created the very problems we’re told to expect in labor. At the same time, when physiology was supported—and parents understood what was happening and why—birth often unfolded more smoothly, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.
But this work isn’t about guaranteeing a “perfect” birth.
Birth doesn’t always go to plan. Sometimes complications do arise. Sometimes induction is needed. Sometimes a cesarean becomes the safest option.
What I’ve seen again and again is that when parents are informed, prepared, and included in decision-making, they tend to feel far better about their birth—even when it looks nothing like they originally hoped. Knowledge doesn’t prevent every intervention, but it can reduce fear, increase clarity, and dramatically lower the risk of feeling powerless, blindsided, or traumatized by the experience.
That’s why this blog exists.
Fearless Birth MB is a space for honest, evidence-based conversations about birth. Not to push one “right” way to give birth—but to help you understand your options, question what’s routine, and feel confident advocating for yourself.
Each month, I’ll focus on one common birth topic—things like induction, epidurals, pain, fear, and hospital policies—and break them down clearly and calmly. My goal is simple: less fear, more understanding, and better experiences for parents and babies!
If you’re here because birth feels intimidating, confusing, or overwhelming—you’re in the right place.
